He opened his mouth to protest, to say something—anything—in his defense. But the heat of Sirius’s gaze coupled with a warm touch of a hand on his shoulder caused the words to become lodged somewhere in the back of his throat, never to see the light of day. He hurriedly shrugged the hand away, not because he didn’t enjoy the touch, but because he did.
